about

Words from Aidan Casserly:

This is a classical piece of music. The "Belle nuit, ô nuit d'amour" (often referred to as the "Barcarolle") is a piece from The Tales of Hoffmann (1881), Jacques Offenbach's final opera.
Mike had the idea of creating a new lyric, around the melody of this most beloved of songs. ‘Ode to the Lost’, is a tale of heartache, but with hope. A swell of emotion and honesty and a lyrical journey that many experience. My personal favourite lyric.

lyrics

‘Ode to the Lost’

Linger on in hours darkly
Break towards our destiny
Arms that tighten to control
A mist consumes complete

Wings that glide, we seek, we hide
From truth and idle rapture
Tears complain but never gain
The trust we left betrayed

Fingers crossed from aching
Between your fires breast
Lament, oh rivers weeping
What else have lovers left?
And what else is left?
And what else is left for love?

Linger on in hours darkly
Break towards our destiny
Arms that tighten to control
A mist consumes complete
Oh we pity the lost
Let us pity the lost
Oh shall we pity the lost
Oh, on nights of love
Ah ah, ah ah, ah ah ah
Ah ah, ah ah, ah ah ah
Ah ah ah ah

Silver Moon began from a tiny seed of friendship, into an emerging artistic bond, to work towards their debut album ‘Empty Rooms’.
